Dr. Brian Cox

 

Dr. Brian Cox's active research interests include: ceramic composites, virtual experiments for design and certification, textile composites, nonlinear biomechanics, mechanics in the biology of dentition, and strain-stimulated patterning in organogenesis.

 

Dr. Cox graduated with his B.Sc. (Honours) from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. He received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. His employment includes University of Oxford, George Washington University, and Teledyne Scientific (formerly Rockwell Science Center).

Dr. Tia Benson Tolle

 

Dr. Tia Benson Tolle is the Director of Advanced Materials, Product Development at Boeing Commercial Aircraft. In this position she is accountable for the integrated materials portfolio of Boeing's commercial airplane products. Prior to joining The Boeing Company, she held the position of Technology Director of the Nonmetallic Materials Division at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Materials and Manufacturing Directorate.

Dr. Benson Tolle graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. She also earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Dayton.

Dr. Jack Gillespie

 

Dr. Jack Gillespie joined the University of Delaware in 1981 and is the Donald C. Phillips Professor with appointments in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Gillespie has advised more than 100 graduate students and authored more than 800 publications in composites science and technology.  In 1996, Dr. Gillespie became Director of the University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials. Dr. Gillespie is a Fellow of the ASC, SME and SAMPE and a co-recipient of the American Society for Civil Engineers Charles Pankow Award for Innovation.

Tour of NASA Langley Research Center:

 

"Early-bird" registrants will have the option of joining a “VIP Tour” of NASA Langley Research Center and to observe first-hand many of the facilities that played pivotal roles in the development of aviation and America’s manned space program.

 

Tour highlights will include the inflatable lunar habitat and lunar crane, the gantry landing & impact research facility, the flight research hangar highlighting a variety of fixed and rotary wing aircraft used in atmospheric and flight research, and the Orion multi-purpose crew vehicle ground test article.

 

Banquet Dinner Speaker: Dr. Nancy Currie-Gregg

 

Dr. Nancy Currie-Gregg currently serves as a Principal Engineer in the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC). She previously served as the NESC Chief Engineer at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). Selected as an astronaut in 1990, Dr. Currie-Gregg is a veteran of four space shuttle missions and has accrued 1000 hours in space.

 

Dr. Currie-Gregg received  a B.S. degree,  with  honors,  in  biological  science  from  The  Ohio  State  University, an M.S. in Safety Engineering from the University of  Southern  California,  and  a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering  from  the University of Houston.
