Introduction to Pro/Mechanica

Disclaimer: This is by no means a complete tutorial to Pro/MECHANICA. Instead, it is intended to introduce students to the use of finite element methods in analyzing and optimizing structural design problems. For more detailed information, it is highly recommended to consult the online Pro/Mechanica manual or other specialized literature.

The tutorial explains that steps necessary to run a basic static analysis on fairly simple structural parts. Advances in automatic meshers have made finite element analyses quite easy to use, reducing the geometric modeling efforts to a minimum. However, in order to obtain good quality results, designers need to carefully evaluate the actual contraint and loading conditions and model these as realistically as possible.
